There are very few known facts of Kokolja life. He was born in Perast 22 July. 1661. god. in a modest bourgeois family.

At baptism were his godfathers Zmajević John, brother of Archbishop Andrew Zmajevcu and Admiral Matija, and Agnes, the mother of a prominent warrior Vicka Bujović.
